This chapter addresses the comprehensive set of United Arab Emirates' policies focused on deterring military aggression, combatting extremism both domestically and regionally, and on fostering stability as a crucial condition to achieve its vision for the future based on security and economic growth. It discusses key aspects of the foundation of the country in 1971, its vision for the future towards the Centennial of its independence and explains the security challenges posed by state and non-state actors. Finally, it focuses on the analysis of both domestic and foreign policies to promote stability, and it argues that the success of these policies will depend not only on sustained and conscious efforts, but also on a complex set of variables beyond the control of the UAE.es_ES
